Well that would be a wonderfully optimistic take. We are in the fight right now, I think, for what makes us human more than ever. But I will go with Dick. Baudrillard would not concur in his final, gut-wrenching observations on how philosophical analysis and technology have made “the real” disappear. As a deconstructionist, he was a perpetrator of disassembling “the real,” which, perhaps never served us anyway. While Baurillard is compelling and unavoidable, I’ve been known to dismiss his theories before (mostly from an emotional standpoint because he is so depressing, as is this uncharacteristic poem).
